COCO Virtual Screening: Modern Horror and Traditional Mythology in The Films of Anchitta Noowong
Join us on March 10th at 6PM PST for a special COCO Virtual Screening featuring two haunting and visually captivating short films by Director Anchitta Noowong, followed by a live Q&A conversation with the filmmaker.
The evening will include:
Mother – Inspired by Thai folklore, this gripping story follows a husband who returns home from deployment to his wife and infant child—unaware that something is not as it seems.
Mirror, Mirror – Drawing from an Asian superstition about mirrors and the soul, this psychological thriller follows a young woman whose work trip takes a chilling turn when she finds herself trapped inside a sparse hotel room with no clear escape.
Rooted in cultural mythology and psychological suspense, both films explore themes of love, loss, fear, and perception in deeply atmospheric ways.
After the screenings, stay for a live Q&A with Director Anchitta Noowong as we discuss inspiration, cultural storytelling, genre filmmaking, and the creative process.
Anchitta is an internationally traveled filmmaker who started in Thailand, making her way to Australia, and finally to Portland, Oregon, although she’s also worked in Japan. Anchitta’s biggest influence in life is her mother, which motivates her to tell stories about the female experience as well as uplift the voices of BIPOC communities, especially Asian Americans. Anchitta completed her BA in Film at Portland State University in 2019 with a minor in Business. She currently works as a Director of Post Production at Bridge City Media and a freelance UGC creator.
Whether you’re a filmmaker, storyteller, or lover of suspenseful cinema, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.
