Jake Tranter is a Southern Oregon–based filmmaker and owner of Spiderking Studios, with experience across narrative film, commercial production, documentary, live production, and community-based media.
With a background as a director and director of photography, Jake brings a strong understanding of both the creative and technical sides of production. He is currently expanding his work within the camera department, with a focus on Camera Operator, 1st AC, and 2nd AC roles. His experience includes professional cinema camera systems, camera builds and rigging, lens and media management, wireless monitoring, and multi-camera production.
Through Spiderking Studios, Jake has directed and produced multiple independent feature films while also working with businesses, nonprofits, artists, and community organizations throughout Southern Oregon. This combination of independent filmmaking and client production has given him experience working with crews of varying sizes, adapting quickly on set, and carrying projects from pre-production through post.
Based in Southern Oregon, Jake is available to travel throughout Oregon, Washington, Northern California, and the greater Pacific Northwest. He is always interested in meeting new filmmakers, joining professional crews, and building long-term working relationships within the regional film community.
About
Jake Tranter is a filmmaker, educator, and U.S. Army veteran based in Southern Oregon. He is the founder of Spiderking Studios, an independent production company built around his lifelong passion for filmmaking, storytelling, and creating opportunities for other artists in his community.
Jake has been making films since he was young, eventually turning that passion into a career spanning independent narrative films, commercial work, documentary projects, live production, and media education. Through Spiderking Studios, he has directed multiple feature films and continues working toward building a sustainable independent film industry in Southern Oregon.
Outside of production, Jake has worked with young filmmakers and students through filmmaking and storytelling programs, and he enjoys creating opportunities for people to gain real-world experience on film sets. Community and collaboration have become an important part of his work, both through Spiderking Studios and his involvement with local arts and nonprofit organizations.
At the heart of it, Jake is a storyteller who still loves the simple act of getting together with a group of creative people and making something that didn't exist before.
