Female-led Oregon feature film, CLEMENTINE, accepted into 2017 Sundance Creative Producing Summit, and will be supported by brand new tax incentives from the Oregon Film Office.

CLEMENTINE is a tense character-based film about three strong, willful, complicated female characters. Set among a forested backdrop at a remote lake house in Oregon, the story explores the multi-faceted nature of female intimacy, and has the potential to be made almost entirely about women, by women, honoring LGBTQ themes.

OMPA members Aimee Lynn Barneburg & Davis Priestley are producers on this feature.

Oregon filmmaker Lara Jean Gallagher to shoot first feature film this September. Written and directed by Gallagher, with a predominantly female, Oregon-based filmmaking team behind her, CLEMENTINE has been selected to attend the 2017 Sundance Creative Producing Summit.

Founded by Robert Redford in 1981, the Sundance Institute is a nonprofit organization that supports and advances the work of independent filmmakers. The annual Sundance Creative Producing Summit is a prestigious invite-only program that provides a forum for independent filmmakers to receive mentorship from top industry professionals to workshop and develop their films.

Additionally, CLEMENTINE will be the first feature film to shoot in Oregon that will benefit from the “Regional Oregon Production Investment Fund” (rOPIF), which went into effect on July 1st, 2017. The rOPIF is a brand new state tax incentive program that promotes filming in rural areas of Oregon. Clementine will be the first film to take advantage of this new program by filming in and around Florence, Oregon in September 2017. The film is also eligible for the “Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund" (iOPIF), a recently renewed state tax incentive meant to support Oregon-based filmmakers.

OMPA is successfully lobbied in 2016 to pass the law to increase the film incentive by 40%, which included rOPIF & an increase to iOPIF. We are happy that OMPA members are able to take advantage of these programs.

CLEMENTINE is a story focused on three complex female characters, featuring LGBTQ themes, and a modern perspective on intimacy and female relationships.
