OMPA is proud to invite you to Media Production Industry Day to rally in support of HB 2267, Governor Kitzhaber's proposed expansion of the OPIF program to recruit film and television jobs to Oregon. Kathering Wilson will present about the early days of MOPAN and OMPA, and why these networking groups are important to filmmakers. She will also talk about her latest film, "Animal House of Blues" How a Community Helped Create a Hollywood Blockbuster. She will share artifacts and photos from her Oregon Film Factory Movie Museum.
Katherine is a long-standing advocate for filming in Oregon, connecting producers and writers to her network of professional contacts, creating grass-roots networking organizations and providing services for Hollywood productions.
After starting her career on Mark Rydell's film Cinderella Liberty (1973), Katherine was chosen as the Governor's liaison to the set of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), and scouted and cast local talent in Animal House (1978). She continued to provide these services for the next 20 years on films including Stand by Me (1986).
More recently, Katherine has served Oregon's industry by developing and creating screenplays that were made to film in the Northwest, working with over thirty writers and completing five of her own scripts. Katherine was recently honored for her career in film with a week-end long party at the Pendleton Round-Up with filmmakers from around the country.
